At the age of 22, Lindsay tested positive for the "breast cancer gene,” a genetic mutation that put her at up to an 87% lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. In an effort to be proactive about her health, Lindsay made the tough decision to undergo a preventative double mastectomy.
Lindsay realized there was a need for a community of high-risk young women who also had a family history of breast and ovarian cancer. To inspire young women to be proactive about their health, Lindsay founded Bright Pink® in 2007. The organization provides education, support, and a sense of community to young women who are at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. With nine programs, ten chapters and more than 25,000 members and supporters nationwide, Bright Pink® is inspiring a whole new approach to managing breast and ovarian health.
